Bankipur: Jan Suraj, Chief Prashant Kishore, accused the BJP on Tuesday, 28 July, of using an AI-generated video of JDU President, former Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, and Rajya Sabha MP Nitish Kumar to influence voters in the Bankipur Assembly by-election, which is scheduled for July 30, 2026.
This is Prashant Kumar’s first election, and he has challenged the BJP to prove the authenticity of the video; he further claimed that if the video turned out to be true, he would withdraw his candidature from the election.

Why There is a By-Poll in Bankipur

The by-poll in Bankipur, Bihar, is announced after the BJP president Nitin Nabin moved to the Rajya Sabha after resigning as MLA. BJP has strong hold over the Bankipur seat for decades, as Nitin Nabin has won the seat for the five times and his father, Navin Kishore Prasad Sinha, won the seat three times. Bankipur is considered one of the safest seats for the BJP in urban Bihar.
The contest has grabbed everyone’s eyeballs as Prashant Kishore announced his electrol debut for the seat.
Hours after the BJP-led NDA rolled out a 58-second video of Nitish Kumar on which Kishor challenged the BJP to prove the authenticity of the video, calling it an AI deepfake.
