Students Allege Bid To Remove Devendra Mahato Amid JPSC-JSSC Protest (Img: X)
New Delhi: The ongoing protest over alleged irregularities in Jharkhand’s JPSC-JSSC recruitment examinations has intensified, with students accusing the state government of attempting to remove Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) leader Devendra Nath Mahato from the protest site in Ranchi.
The protesters claimed that the alleged move was aimed at weakening their agitation, drawing a comparison with activist Sonam Wangchuk’s removal from Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

A protester, Prem Nayak, alleged that efforts were made to take Devendra Nath Mahato away from the protest location during the night. He claimed that the administration wanted to reduce Mahato’s influence, saying the movement was gaining strength because of his continued presence at the protest site.
The protesters maintained that their agitation was peaceful and being conducted within the framework of the Constitution.
The Jharkhand government and student representatives have held five rounds of discussions over the recruitment exam-related issues, but no final resolution has been reached so far.
Another round of talks is expected as both sides continue negotiations. The state government said Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been informed about the students’ demands and necessary steps are being considered.
The political battle over the protest has also intensified, with the BJP attacking the Jharkhand government over the issue. Union Minister Sanjay Seth and BJP state president Aditya Sahu visited protesters at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi and accused the government of failing to address students’ concerns.
The BJP leaders demanded action from the state government and questioned its response to the students’ demand for a CBI investigation into the alleged examination irregularities.
