New Delhi: Independent MP of Bihar’s Purnia, Pappu Yadav, has come to the defense of his contentious protest within the precincts of Parliament, claiming that he had attacked corruption in the name of religion, not Hinduism or religion itself.

This clarification came after a day of an enactment by Opposition MPs, which was a reaction to the alleged misuse of donations collected for the Ram Temple project.

Video on Ritual Released Amid Controversy

In one video on Instagram that was uploaded after the agitation, we can see Pappu Yadav dressed in saffron clothes, a turban, tilak, and rudraksh mala performing Hindu rituals.

Along with the video, the member of Parliament expressed his respect for Hinduism, Sanatan Dharma, saffron, saints, and rituals, but he mentioned that it was only towards those who allegedly use people's faith for money.

He further expressed his respect for the people's faith and stated that his objection towards the alleged "donation theft" would not end.

What Caused the Controversy?

The controversy started during the Monsoon Session of Parliament where INDIA bloc members organized a satirical demonstration at Makar Dwar in connection with Ram Temple donation charges.

During the drama, Pappu Yadav, who was attired as a priest, performed an act in which the donation box was removed, indicating misuse of donations by devotees, according to the Opposition.

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition, joined the demonstration along with some Opposition members, including Dimple Yadav.

Political and Legal Responses

The BJP condemned the agitation, saying it was an insult to Sanatan Dharma, saffron color, and Lord Ram. However, the Opposition leaders were of the view that the agitation was meant to raise issues regarding financial misappropriations.

However, a complaint has been lodged at the police station of Jahangirpuri, Delhi, against Pappu Yadav and other Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Dimple Yadav, for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through the protest.
