New Delhi: Purnia MP Pappu Yadav's press conference in the national capital turned chaotic on Sunday evening after a man allegedly attempted to attack him while he was interacting with supporters, party workers and journalists at his Delhi residence following his return from an official tour.

According to eyewitnesses present at the venue, two young men interrupted the press conference and confronted Pappu Yadav over his recent protest inside the Parliament complex related to the Ram Temple donation theft case. The men allegedly accused the MP of insulting Sanatan Dharma, leading to a heated verbal exchange. During the confrontation, one of them allegedly attempted to throw a slipper towards the MP, escalating tensions inside the packed media briefing.

Supporters of Pappu Yadav immediately intervened, overpowered both men and allegedly assaulted them before they could leave the venue. As the situation deteriorated, Delhi Police personnel present at the spot stepped in, rescued the two individuals from the crowd and took them into custody for further questioning. Law enforcement authorities have not yet issued a detailed official statement regarding the sequence of events or the possible legal action arising from the incident.

Following the disruption, Pappu Yadav alleged that the attackers had come armed with a knife with the intention of killing him. He claimed the assailants had arrived with a pre-planned motive to attack him during the press conference. However, Delhi Police has not officially confirmed the recovery of any knife or validated the allegation. The claim remains under police verification as part of the ongoing inquiry.

The latest controversy comes days after Pappu Yadav attracted national attention over his protest in the Parliament premises regarding the alleged misuse of offerings made at the Ram Temple. During that demonstration, he appeared dressed in saffron attire alongside opposition MPs and staged a symbolic protest by enacting the collection of donations and allegedly portraying money being diverted into personal pockets. The protest sparked a major political confrontation, with ruling party leaders accusing the opposition of hurting religious sentiments. An FIR was subsequently registered in connection with the demonstration, intensifying the political dispute.

Responding to the FIR and the latest incident, Pappu Yadav asserted that he would not be intimidated by criminal proceedings. He maintained that wearing saffron is his constitutional right and declared that legal action would not deter him from raising issues concerning Sanatan Dharma and public faith. Referring to previous criminal cases against senior opposition leaders, he stated that political leaders should not fear FIRs and reiterated his commitment to continue fighting against those he accused of betraying religious values. He further claimed that he remains prepared to risk his life in defence of people's faith and India's cultural traditions.

Another confrontation also unfolded during the same media briefing when a man questioned Pappu Yadav over allegations that a Ram idol had been placed near another MP's feet inside Parliament during the earlier protest. The exchange quickly turned into a verbal argument before the alleged attack attempt disrupted the event. As security personnel intervened, the detained individual reportedly raised slogans against Pappu Yadav while being escorted away from the venue.
