PM Modi Cuts Convoy by 50 percent
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly reduced the size of his official convoy by nearly 50 percent during recent domestic visits, marking a notable step toward simplicity, efficiency, and responsible use of resources.
According to reports, the reduced convoy was observed during PM Modi’s visits to Vadodara and Guwahati. While all essential security arrangements under the Special Protection Group (SPG) remained intact, several additional support vehicles were removed from the convoy lineup. The decision was implemented in line with strict security protocols.
The move is being viewed as an effort to improve administrative efficiency and reduce inconvenience caused by long VVIP motorcades, which often lead to traffic disruptions. It also aligns with broader discussions on minimizing unnecessary government expenditure and improving public convenience.
PM Modi has recently emphasized the importance of conserving resources, including fuel, amid rising global energy costs. In earlier public addresses, he also encouraged citizens to adopt efficient practices such as digital meetings and reduced physical travel where possible.
Following this development, several states are reportedly reviewing convoy protocols for senior officials, including chief ministers and cabinet ministers, to streamline logistics and reduce road congestion.
Officials have clarified that despite the reduction in convoy size, PM Modi’s security framework remains fully robust under SPG protection, ensuring no compromise on safety standards.
