New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be inaugurating the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in north coastal Andhra on August 1. This follows the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu calling on the Prime Minister today and officially inviting him to inaugurate the airport.

The prestigious Bhogapuram airport project, which was initiated during the TDP government in 2014, was accelerated by the present coalition government and completed within two years. This airport is expected to not only generate employment and livelihood opportunities across the sectors, but also lessen the burden on the present Visakhapatnam airport.

Sources said that during the meeting both the leaders discussed the present stalemate in the Parliament on
the NEEP paper leak and the Opposition demanding the education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Later, Naidu also closeted with the Home Minister Amit Shah and held strategic discussions on several issues.

Besides, Naidu also met the Commerce Minister Piyush Goel, Power Minister Manohar Lal Khottar and the Water Resources Minister C R Patil and took up several pending issues related to state infrastructure and development projects.
