Prashant Kishor Targets CM Samrat Choudhry Demands ‘A Better Person As Chief Minister’

Within 24 hours of his maiden victory, Jan Suraj Party (JSP) leader Prashant Kishor targeted his guns directly at Chief Minister Samrat Choudhry. In a way, Kishor, an electoral strategist, launched his campaign for the replacement of the present Chief Minister.

New Delhi: After defeating the BJP in its stronghold seat of Bankipur, Jan Suraj Party leader Prashant Kishor singularly targeted the Chief Minister with a slogan, "remove Samrat".Within 24 hours of his maiden electoral victory, Kishor said people wanted the BJP to appoint "a better person as chief minister".

In other words, Kishore took the political battle right into the NDA camp with a direct assault on the BJP Chief Minister. The JSP leader said that his Bankipur bypoll victory was a message from Bihar's voters to the BJP and NDA leadership to replace Samrat Choudhry as chief minister.

Kishor said people wanted the BJP to appoint "a better person" as Chief Minister and shift the political discourse "from crime and caste to education, employment and migration".The result was a major setback for the BJP, which held the urban constituency since 1995.

Kishore questioned how the BJP lost a seat that Nabin had won by over 51,000 votes in the assembly elections last November, he said nothing had changed in Bankipur except the BJP's leadership in Bihar, which, according to him, people had rejected.

" What has changed is that the BJP has given a new leadership in Bihar that is unacceptable to the people of Bihar", he told reporters and claimed voters were uncomfortable with Samrat Choudhry's " conduct, Character and face". He alleged that installing a leader with a "criminal background" as CM would prevent Bihar from progressing.

Kishore also accused the BJP of bringing back the same style of politics it once campaigned against. The very 'jungle raj"
you sought votes against... the people will not accept it", he said and alleged that voters rejected the BJP because it placed "an individual representing that same Jungle raj" at the helm.

Meanwhile, Kishor rejected any possibility of a political alliance in the near future. He said, " We shall have no alliance. Our alliance shall be with the people of Bihar. You should see that the people of Bankippur have voted for us, giving up on established parties."
