Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav raised concerns over the management and safety of donations made for the Ayodhya Ram Temple, referring to the offerings as “Ram Dhan”. His remarks came as the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust held an important meeting to decide on administrative changes, including the appointment of the temple’s first Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Yadav questioned the arrangements for protecting the donations received for the temple and called for transparency in the handling of the funds.
The Trust meeting in Ayodhya discussed strengthening the temple’s administrative system and finalising the appointment of a full-time CEO.
The new CEO will be responsible for managing key areas, including temple administration, financial matters, operational planning and coordination of various activities related to the temple complex.
The move is part of efforts to create a more structured management system for the temple, which attracts a large number of devotees from across the country.
The Trust’s meeting took place amid a controversy over alleged irregularities linked to temple donations. The issue had triggered legal action, with several people arrested in connection with the case.
The Trust also discussed other important matters, including amendments to its deed, appointment of a spokesperson and filling vacant trustee positions.
Akhilesh Yadav’s statement has added a political angle to the discussions surrounding the temple’s administration. The SP chief has repeatedly raised questions on transparency and accountability in matters related to public issues.
Meanwhile, the Trust has been working on improving its administrative framework, with the CEO appointment expected to play a key role in the future functioning of the Ram Temple.
The upcoming changes are likely to define the next phase of management at the Ayodhya temple.
