New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led government during the Lok Sabha debate on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.
Gandhi alleged that the country's education system is facing deeper issues and claimed that the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan alone would not bring meaningful reforms.
During the debate, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has influence over major educational institutions. He claimed that changing the Education Minister would not be enough to address problems related to examination reforms.

"Dharmendra Pradhan was only a symbol," Gandhi said while targeting the government's handling of education-related issues.
The debate became heated when Rahul Gandhi spoke about the student protests linked to the NEET-UG 2026 controversy. Defending the demonstrations, Gandhi said the protests represented concerns among young people about their future and should be respected.

He said the student movement was an expression of frustration and not an act of hatred or violence.
However, his remarks triggered objections from the treasury benches after he used the terms "students, idiots and andhbhakts" while narrating a conversation with an 18-year-old student.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju intervened during Gandhi's speech and objected to the language, calling some remarks unparliamentary. He urged the Congress leader to continue his speech but avoid expressions that could violate parliamentary decorum.
Rahul Gandhi responded by asking the Lok Sabha Speaker to ensure order in the House, alleging that disruptions often occur whenever he begins speaking.
The remarks came amid a continuing political battle over the Centre's response to allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG examination system and the government's proposed measures to prevent unfair practices in competitive exams.
