Kolkata: In a significant boost to social welfare, West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul on Monday announced a series of initiatives that will take effect from 1 June.

Among the key measures is free travel for women in all state-run buses, aimed at enhancing mobility, safety, and economic participation for women across the state.

The government also approved the Annapurna Bhandar Scheme, under which eligible beneficiaries will receive financial assistance of Rs 3,000 per month. Notably, women who have applied under the CAA and tribunal processes will also be covered under the scheme.

Minister Paul emphasized that these initiatives are part of a broader citizen-centric push to provide social and financial support to women, reflecting the state government’s commitment to empowerment and inclusive development.
