Shashi Tharoor Slams Government
New Delhi: Shashi Tharoor, Congress MP and Chairman Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs slams government on the opening day of monsoon session of parliament on Monday, 20 Jul. 26 for not letting opposition discuss important issues such as alleged Ram Mandir donation theft and NEET UG paper leak in the house. He further said Parliament “cannot be a notice board” for announcements and passing government bills
While speaking to the press in Parliament House complex, Tharoor said that opposition wanted to discuss several key issues such as “Ayodhya chanda chori”, the NEET paper leak and concerns highlighted by the Indian National Congress under its ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ program. However, as per Tharoor, the government is not letting debate happen.
He said, "I don't know why are they scared of a discussion?”
He further told the press that, "Everyone knows these are burning issues across the country, it would be logical to have a discussion on them. Parliament is supposed to be the place where we can ventilate the voice of the people, the concerns of the people and once we do that, we all know the government has a majority. The old saying goes the opposition must have its say because the government will have its way, they have the majority."
