Why Sandeep Pathak’s exit hurts Arvind Kejriwal more than Raghav Chadha?

AAP faces a major setback as Sandeep Pathak’s exit impacts its internal strategy more than Raghav Chadha’s departure. While Chadha affects public image, Pathak’s role in building organisational strength makes his exit more damaging.

New Delhi:

Sandeep Pathak was a party leader who rarely appeared in the public eye but managed the entire strategy from behind the scenes. He is widely regarded as the "mastermind" behind AAP's victory in Punjab. He strengthened the party by meticulously crafting data-driven strategies, conducting surveys, and formulating booth-level plans. For this very reason, his departure is viewed not merely as the loss of a single leader but as a significant weakening of the party's entire strategic core.

Raghav Chadha vs. Sandeep Pathak: What is the difference?

Raghav Chadha was a prominent public face who served as the party's interface with both the media and the general public. Consequently, his departure impacts AAP's public image and popularity.

Sandeep Pathak's work, however, was internal in nature. He was a pivotal component responsible for driving the party's organizational machinery. Therefore, his departure serves to weaken the very roots of the party.

How Strong Was His Grip Within the Party?

Pathak was a member of AAP's most critical decision-making body. He also held the positions of National General Secretary and member of the Political Affairs Committee.

He was counted among the select few individuals in whom Arvind Kejriwal placed his absolute trust. This is precisely why his sudden departure is being perceived as a major blow to the party.

Rumors of internal discord—specifically involving Raghav Chadha and certain other leaders—had already begun to surface within the party. However, there had been absolutely no indications regarding Sandeep Pathak. His abrupt defection to the BJP has proven to be far more shocking and a source of much greater concern for the party.

The party views the departure of other MPs through a different lens. Some of these leaders were not considered particularly active, while others were already facing internal pressure or embroiled in controversies. Consequently, their departures were not perceived as nearly as significant a blow as that of Pathak.

What Constitutes AAP's Greatest Loss?

AAP's core strength has historically resided in its robust ground-level presence and strategic acumen—particularly in the state of Punjab.

Sandeep Pathak was the very individual who orchestrated this entire operational framework. His departure threatens to undermine the party's organizational structure and its electoral preparedness.

In summary, while Raghav Chadha's departure inflicts damage upon AAP's public image, Sandeep Pathak's departure fundamentally weakens the party's internal infrastructure and strategic foundation. This is the reason why his departure is being considered the biggest blow within the party.
