Weather Update: Cold wave to grip Telangana on last day of 2025; IMD issues alert for 10 districts

Hyderabad: Telangana is set to experience a cold wave on the final day of 2025, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a warning for 10 districts on Wednesday, December 31. Residents are advised to take precautions as temperatures continue to drop across the state.

The IMD bulletin stated that cold wave conditions are “very likely to prevail at isolated pockets” in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy districts.

Hyderabad Weather: Fog and Mild Chill

For Hyderabad and surrounding areas, the next 24 hours are expected to see partly cloudy skies. Morning hours are likely to be foggy or misty, while nighttime may see hazy conditions. The city is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 28°C and a minimum of 14°C, providing some relief from the more severe cold wave conditions in northern districts.

Lowest Temperature Recorded in Tiryani

Data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) shows that between December 29 and 30, a total of 10 districts experienced temperatures below 10°C. Tiryani in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 5.6°C.

Other districts recording low temperatures include:

Bheempoor (Adilabad) – 7.3°C

Moinabad (Rangareddy) – 7.7°C

Mominpet (Vikarabad) – 8.5°C

Zahirabad (Sangareddy), Pembi (Nirmal), Gandhari (Kamareddy) – 9°C

Markook (Siddipet) – 9.4°C

Narsapur (Medak) – 9.7°C

Ramagiri (Peddapalli) – 9.9°C

The remaining 23 districts reported temperatures ranging between 10°C and 14°C, indicating widespread cold conditions across Telangana.

Urban Areas Also Feeling the Chill

Even urban centers in Telangana are experiencing cooler weather. Uppal in Medchal Malkajgiri recorded 10.2°C, while Maredpally in Hyderabad registered 11.6°C. Residents are advised to dress warmly, use heating if necessary, and take precautions during early morning and nighttime hours.

The cold wave is expected to persist through the last day of 2025, making it one of the chilliest year-end periods in recent years for Telangana.
