Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP is witnessing internal churn after the resignation of former state chief K. Annamalai, which has triggered multiple exits from the party’s organisational structure.
State BJP president Nainar Nagendran on Saturday made a direct appeal to party workers, urging them not to leave the organisation or shift allegiance to other political groups.

Addressing reporters in Chennai, he stressed that the BJP remains a strong national force under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and should not be shaken by individual resignations.
“Don’t go to any other party or movement. Stay in BJP. We have the number one leader in the world, PM Modi,” he said.
Annamalai’s exit has already led to resignations of several state-level office-bearers, including vice-presidents and secretaries. This has fuelled speculation about whether more leaders will follow him into his newly launched political initiative.
Following his departure, Annamalai announced a new platform called “We The Leaders,” aimed at promoting “common man politics” and opposing dynastic and cult-based politics. The movement has reportedly drawn significant early interest, including thousands of volunteers.

Despite the resignations, TN BJP leadership has rejected claims of damage to the party structure. Leaders reiterated that BJP is ideology-based and not dependent on any single individual.
They also pointed out that political exits and returns are common in a large national party and will not affect long-term growth in Tamil Nadu.
Annamalai, a former IPS officer credited with expanding BJP’s reach in Tamil Nadu, has said his new platform will focus on inclusive governance, professionals’ participation, and development-oriented politics.
