Hyderabad: After a day-long questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the Moinabad drug party case, officials on Wednesday sought seven days' custody of key accused, including BRS former MLA Rohit Reddy, his brother Ritesh Reddy, and their Rajasthan-based real estate associate Namit Sharma. They are currently lodged in Chanchalguda prison.

Interrogation Focus on Farmhouse Incident

Sources said that out of the total 11 persons involved in the drug abuse case, seven were questioned on Tuesday. However, Wednesday’s focus was on the three key accused, particularly Rohit Reddy, at whose farmhouse the alleged drug abuse took place.

MP Putta Mahesh Kumar Skips Questioning

Lok Sabha member Putta Mahesh Kumar, who represents the Eluru constituency, did not attend either session, citing parliamentary commitments. He informed the police that he would appear after April 4 and may send legal representation in the interim. The request has been accepted by the investigators.

Refusal for De-addiction, Legal Route Chosen

Sources added that MP Kumar reportedly refused to attend de-addiction centres, maintaining his innocence and choosing to fight the case legally.

Probe Intensifies, Focus on Rohit Reddy

Meanwhile, the investigation has intensified, with the net tightening around Rohit Reddy. Police sources indicated that most leads in the case are pointing towards him.

Chargesheet Likely in Three Months

The SIT team, led by senior officer Sudheer Babu, is expected to take around three months to file the chargesheet in the case.
