Karnataka Cabinet Expension: Congress High Command Approves 18 Names, To Be Announced Soon

Congress High Command has approved 18 names for the cabinet expansion in Karnataka, as it was pending since DK Shivkumar took charge as CM. However, the names have not been announced officially.

New Delhi: The Congress top leadership is about to finalise the long-awaited expansion of the Karnataka Cabinet. Media reports suggest that the party high command has approved 18 names, which have been cleared during a meeting at the residence of Congress National President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Malikarjun Kharge on 31st July 2026 in New Delhi.
The swearing-in ceremony is likely to take place on 3rd August at 5 PM.
LoP Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister DK Shivkumar, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala, and Karnataka PCC BK Hariprasad attended the meeting at Kharge’s residence.
The high command has approved around 18 names given by CM DK Shivkumar, Siddaramaiah, and Hariprasad. The reports cities that the new expanded cabinet will include senior leaders and first-time ministers from different castes, religion, and community.
The final list is likely to be released on Sunday evening or Monday morning. The expansion was pending since DK Shivkumar took charge as CM on 3rd June.
Currently, the state has 14 ministers, including DK Shivkumar. The maximum permissible strength is 34.
