New Delhi: The Congress leadership is holding a crucial round of discussions today in Indira Bhawan here in Delhi that could determine how long the uneasy truce between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar can hold in Karantaka.

Both leaders Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar landed separately in New Delhi on Monday evening, accompanied by their respective camps.

According to reports, a meeting begins shortly at Indira Bhavan, the Congress headquarters located in Delhi. This meeting is being attended by several key figures from the party's top leadership, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.

It is worth noting that the Congress party secured a resounding victory in the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections. Much of the credit for this triumph has consistently been attributed to DK Shivakumar. Consequently, in the aftermath of the election results, the party appeared to be in a state of prolonged indecision regarding the choice for the Chief Minister's post. This dilemma stemmed from the fact that both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar are seasoned and experienced leaders.

Ultimately, the Congress High Command appointed Siddaramaiah as the Chief Minister and Shivakumar as the Deputy Chief Minister. However, Shivakumar's supporters maintain that their leader should have been the one appointed as CM.

This demand periodically resurfaces, intensifying political discourse surrounding the Chief Minister's position. It is believed that the meeting taking place in Delhi today will address this issue, aiming to devise a resolution that ensures this matter ceases to be a recurring subject of debate.
