N Chandrababu Naidu holds high-level meetings in Delhi ahead of state budget

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday spent a hectic day in the national capital, meeting Union Ministers at Parliament House. It included Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Water Resources Minister C R Patil. He sought Central assistance for various projects and schemes in the State.

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday spent a busy and restless day in Delhi, meeting several Union Ministers seeking Central assistance in view of the State Budget being presented on February 14. Naidu also brought to the notice of the Union Ministers the pending issues in the State. During the day, in all, Naidu met six ministers.

Discussion on Tirupati Laddu Issue and Amaravati Capital

With Home Minister Amit Shah, the Chief Minister highlighted the recent Tirupati laddu ghee adulteration scandal and informed him that the enquiry has been expanded in order to nab the real culprits and punish them. Naidu also stressed the need for Parliamentary legislation to protect and continue Amaravati as the State capital.

Irrigation Projects and Polavaram Funding Sought

During his meeting with Water Resources Minister C R Patil, the Chief Minister urged for linking of the Nallamala Sagar irrigation project with Polavaram, which has been pending for long. The Polavaram project, which was declared a national project, was reviewed, and more funds were sought to speed up the project.

Concerns Over Financial Losses and Funding Needs

Naidu’s important meeting was with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He highlighted the financial losses to the State under the recommendations of the 16th Finance Commission. Pointing out the financial constraints for budgetary support, Naidu made several requests for funding of important schemes like Purvodaya.

Meetings With Key Ministers and Return to Amaravati

Among the ministers Naidu met include Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and he took up pending works as well as new requirements. With the State Budget session commencing from Wednesday, Naidu rushed back to Amaravati in the evening.
