A 26-year-old software engineer in Hyderabad died by suicide, with her family alleging dowry harassment by her husband. Police have registered a case, taken the husband into custody, and launched an investigation.

After their marriage, the couple shifted to Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A 26-year-old software engineer, Ishita Yadav, was found dead at her apartment in the Miyapur area of Hyderabad on Wednesday evening, police said.
According to officials, she was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in the hall of her residence. Her husband, Neeraj Bhansal, informed the police after finding her unresponsive.

Police said Ishita and Neeraj had known each other since 2020, having met through social media. The two were in a relationship for nearly five years before getting married earlier this year.
Their wedding took place in Patna on February 20 in the presence of family members. After marriage, the couple moved to Hyderabad, where both were employed in the software sector.
The woman’s family has accused her husband of harassment over dowry demands. According to the complaint filed by her parents, tensions arose in the marriage soon after they began living together.
They alleged that Neeraj had been pressuring Ishita to bring additional dowry and had also asked her family to invest money in a startup venture he had recently launched. The family claims that this persistent pressure led to distress.
Based on the complaint, Miyapur police have registered a First Information Report and initiated an investigation. The body has been shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination.
Police confirmed that the husband has been taken into custody and is being questioned as part of the probe. Officials said all angles, including allegations of harassment, are being examined.
Authorities stated that further details will emerge after the postmortem report and statements from family members and others are recorded.
The case has once again brought attention to issues surrounding dowry-related harassment, despite strict legal provisions against the practice in India.
