Her worship grants devotees victory over enemies and removes obstacles in life. In the Braj region, Maa Katyayani is especially revered as the presiding deity.

Divine Form of Maa Katyayani

Maa Katyayani is a four-armed goddess riding a lion. She holds a sword and a lotus flower in one hand, while the other two hold the abhaya and varada mudras. Her radiance is believed to remove all suffering from her devotees, and her grace brings positive energy into their lives.

Result of Maharishi Katyayana's Penance

According to legend, Maa Katyayani was born as a result of Rishi Katyayan's rigorous penance. When the gods were troubled by the atrocities of Mahishasura, the goddess was born from the radiance of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. Maharishi Katyayana was the first to worship her, hence her name Katyayani.
