New Delhi: In the IPL 2026 clash between the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings, Punjab's fast bowler Arshdeep Singh delivered a magnificent performance. In this match, played at the Wankhede Stadium, he single-handedly turned the tide of the game within the span of a single over.
In this match, Arshdeep Singh completed his 100th IPL wicket. He has become the first bowler for the Punjab Kings franchise to achieve this feat. Prior to this, the record for the most wickets taken for the team was held by Piyush Chawla, who has 84 wickets to his name.
This achievement marks a major milestone in his career and places him on the list of the top left-arm fast bowlers in the IPL.
During his spell, Arshdeep created a pivotal moment that completely shifted the momentum of the match. First, he dismissed Mumbai batsman Ryan Rickelton. The delivery wasn't entirely perfect, but the batsman's shot went straight into the hands of a fielder, resulting in his dismissal. With this very wicket, Arshdeep completed his 100th IPL wicket.
Before the Mumbai Indians could even recover from the previous dismissal, Arshdeep struck again on the very next delivery. This time, he swung the ball away from the batsman; Suryakumar Yadav attempted an aggressive shot, but the ball took an outside edge, and he was caught out. In this manner, Arshdeep came tantalizingly close to claiming a hat-trick, further heightening the excitement within the stadium.
With this performance, Arshdeep has joined an exclusive list of left-arm fast bowlers who have taken 100 or more wickets in the IPL. This elite list features prominent names such as Trent Boult, Ashish Nehra, Jaydev Unadkat, and Zaheer Khan.
Arshdeep's brilliant bowling spell dealt a severe blow to the Mumbai Indians' start. After six overs, the team's score stood at 48 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. This spell proved to be immensely crucial for the Punjab Kings, significantly boosting the team's morale.
