New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the five main venues in India for the matches of the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be held next year. These cities include Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai. The BCCI has confirmed that the final match of the tournament will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is the same stadium where the 2023 ODI World Cup final between India and Australia was played. This stadium was also in the international spotlight during the 2023 ODI World Cup. This time too, the BCCI has chosen this venue for the grand finale, further increasing the excitement among fans. Experts believe that Ahmedabad was chosen considering logistical convenience, security, and spectator capacity. Full Schedule to Be Released Next Week According to sources, the ICC is preparing to release the complete schedule for the tournament, which will be held in February-March 2026, next week. This time, India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the tournament. Sri Lanka has been included in the tournament, as it will serve as a neutral venue for Pakistan. This arrangement is part of an agreement between the Indian and Pakistani cricket boards. Matches to Be Held at Three Venues in Sri Lanka Three venues have also been selected for matches in Sri Lanka, with the capital, Colombo, being the main one. Pakistan team's matches and some Super-12 matches will be played here. If Pakistan reaches the final, the title match will be held in Sri Lanka as per the agreement. India to Enter the Tournament as Defending Champions This time, India will not only be the host but will also enter the tournament as the reigning world champions. The Indian team won the T20 World Cup title last year in Barbados and will now try to defend the title in front of their home crowd.
