Delhi HC rejects Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat plea against WFI elections

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has dealt a major blow to top wrestlers like Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, and Satyawart Kadian. The Delhi High Court has dismissed their petition challenging the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections. All these wrestlers failed to appear before the court several times, leading the High Court to dismiss their petitions.

Sanjay Singh defeated Anita Sheoran for the post of President in the WFI elections. Anita had the support of these top wrestlers. Justice Mini Pushkarna heard the case on November 27 and observed that none of the petitioners were present for the hearing.

As the hearing progressed, it was discovered that these wrestlers had not attended the previous two hearings. The court stated in its order, "It appears that the petitioners have no interest in pursuing this matter further."

Petition dismissed for failure to appear during hearing
The wrestlers had alleged that the WFI elections were not conducted in a fair and transparent environment. They alleged deficiencies and irregularities in the election process.

The court dismissed the petition due to the petitioners' repeated failure to appear during the hearing.
