Colombo: India created history by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan by 61 runs in the T20 World Cup 2026. This is India's biggest victory over Pakistan by a margin of runs in the T20 format. Batting first, India scored 175 for seven in 20 overs, in response to which Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in 18 overs.

Ishan Kishan's powerful half-century

Opener Ishan Kishan laid the foundation for the Indian innings. He scored 77 runs off 40 balls, strengthening the innings. He shared a crucial 87-run partnership for the second wicket with Tilak Verma. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dubey also played useful innings to help the team reach a strong total.

The Indian batsmen had some difficulty playing big shots on a spin-friendly pitch, but Ishan maintained an aggressive approach and kept the pressure on Pakistan.

Bowlers Destroy Pakistan's Batting

Chasing a target of 176, Pakistan got off to a poor start, losing three wickets in the first two overs. The Indian bowlers maintained constant pressure. Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets each to completely dismantle Pakistan's batting order. Usman Khan top-scored for Pakistan with 44, while the other batsmen struggled to reach double figures.

14-Year-Old Record Broken

With this victory, India broke its previous record for best run margin against Pakistan in T20Is, set in 2012. This major win after 14 years further strengthens the team's confidence.
