Ahmedabad: At the Narendra Modi Stadium, South Africa delivered a commanding all-round performance to seal a 76-run victory over India, asserting their dominance with both bat and ball.
A composed 63 from David Miller anchored the Proteas’ innings, while Marco Jansen produced a clinical spell of 4/22 to dismantle India’s batting line-up. South Africa maintained control throughout the contest, applying sustained pressure that kept the hosts on the back foot.
Chasing 188, India’s innings faltered early. Abhishek Sharma managed 15, while Tilak Varma and Ishan Kishan were dismissed cheaply during the powerplay. The early setbacks triggered a middle-order collapse, with Suryakumar Yadavfalling at a critical juncture to leave India five down and struggling to stay in the contest.
Despite a fighting 42 from Shivam Dube, India failed to build meaningful partnerships as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals. South Africa’s disciplined bowling effort ensured there was no route back for the hosts, wrapping up a comprehensive win to underline their superiority on the day.
