New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has set and broken numerous records within the world of cricket. It is a platform where young players, alongside established legends, have carved out their own distinct identities. The 2026 season, in particular, belonged to the youth, as new stars delivered spectacular performances.
The record for the youngest player to make a debut in IPL history belongs to Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
He played his first match for the Rajasthan Royals in 2025, at the age of just 14 years and 23 days.
In his debut match, he stunned everyone by scoring 34 runs off 20 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants.
Securing the second spot on this list is Prayas Ray Barman. He made his debut for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019 at the age of 16 years and 157 days. Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman stepped into the IPL arena at the age of 17 years and 11 days.
He established a reputation for himself right from the start through his brilliant bowling. Riyan Parag made his debut against the Chennai Super Kings in 2019 at the age of 17 years and 152 days. Similarly, Sarfaraz Khan also played in the IPL at the age of 17 years and 177 days.
The IPL has pioneered a trend of providing early opportunities to young players. Here, talent transcends age, allowing players to prove their mettle on a grand stage at a very young age.
