New Delhi: Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi delivered yet another record-breaking performance in IPL 2026, hammering 93 off just 38 balls to power Rajasthan Royals to a commanding chase against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur.
The 15-year-old opener has been the standout story of the season, and his latest innings once again underlined his rapid rise as one of the most destructive young batters in the league.
With this knock, Sooryavanshi became the youngest player in IPL history to cross 500 runs in a single season. He now has 574 runs in IPL 2026, maintaining a staggering strike rate of 236.3 the highest ever for any batter with 500+ runs in an IPL season.
He has overtaken several elite campaigns, including Andre Russell’s 2019 season and Abhishek Sharma’s recent high-scoring year, to set a new benchmark for explosive consistency.
Sooryavanshi also crossed 50 sixes in the season, becoming the first Indian to achieve the milestone. His tally now stands at 53, placing him just behind Chris Gayle’s all-time record of 59 sixes in a single IPL season.
He also became only the third batter in IPL history to hit 10 or more sixes in multiple innings, joining legends like Chris Gayle and Abhishek Sharma.

Rajasthan Royals’ aggressive powerplay strategy has revolved heavily around Sooryavanshi. The team has hit 60 sixes in the powerplay this season, with 37 of them coming from the teenager alone, highlighting his early dominance at the top of the order.
Chasing 221, Lucknow Super Giants posted 220/5, powered by Mitchell Marsh’s 96 and Josh Inglis’s 60. However, Sooryavanshi’s counterattack shifted momentum decisively.
After a slow start, he exploded with 26 runs in one over off Akash Singh and 29 off Mayank Yadav, reaching a 23-ball fifty. He was eventually dismissed for 93, but by then the match was firmly in Rajasthan’s control.
Dhruv Jurel finished the chase with an unbeaten 53 as Rajasthan completed the target in 19.1 overs, climbing to fourth on the points table.
