Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a cautious start after losing Finn Allen early, but Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi steadied the innings with a crucial partnership. The duo stitched together an 84-run stand, keeping the scoreboard ticking and laying a strong foundation.
Rahane looked fluent, striking boundaries with ease, while Raghuvanshi showed maturity in building his innings. Both batters kept LSG bowlers under pressure before falling in quick succession, shifting momentum briefly towards the visitors.
KKR suffered a mini-collapse in the middle overs, losing key wickets including Rinku Singh cheaply. LSG bowlers, especially Digvesh Rathi and Manimaran Siddharth, applied the brakes, conceding just a handful of runs and pulling things back.
Rovman Powell and Cameron Green turned the tide in the death overs with a powerful counterattack. Powell’s aggressive hitting, including boundaries and a six off Prince Yadav, helped KKR accelerate in the final overs.
Mohammed Shami delivered a disciplined spell, conceding just 27 runs in his four overs. His mix of yorkers and slower deliveries kept the batters in check during crucial phases.
A 12-run final over ensured KKR finished at a competitive 181/4 in 20 overs. The total gives them a solid platform, though conditions at Eden Gardens could make it a challenging defense against a strong LSG batting lineup.
