Ahmedabad: Well, the Punjabis and the fans of Punjab Kings were all set with dhols since the advent of the IPL final, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The two Bollywood divas, Preity Zinta and Anushka Sharma, were also present in the stadium, supporting and cheering for their teams.

The craze for the final was such that even the former Prime Minister of Britain, accompanied by ICC Chairman Jay Shah, witnessed this nail-biting, suspenseful, and thrilling match.

RCB had started off well in the powerplay but lost wickets like a domino effect, which continued till the last over. Apart from Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma, none of the RCB batsmen were able to sustain the innings by building a partnership.

PBKS had restricted RCB to 190, setting a target of 191. Everyone knew it was going to be one-sided.

Punjab also started well in the powerplay but began struggling in the middle overs, losing wickets too.

The match could have been in favor of RCB if Shepherd had not dropped Prabhsimran at 9 runs, but he made up for the mistake by dismissing Punjab's captain for just 2 runs. Let's not forget that Krunal Pandya has been a dark horse for RCB and today again he proved his caliber for his team.

But Josh Inglis continued the innings—little did he know he would be caught off guard at long-on by Livingstone. However, he had to take the risk as pressure was building on the team incessantly due to dot balls.

The pressure kept mounting on PBKS; when they started, they needed to score at 9.1 runs per over, but by the 14th over, the required rate had escalated to 14 runs per over.

But Punjab kept its hopes alive with the young talents, Shashank and Wadhera. However, they couldn't hold on much longer as PBKS soon lost two wickets in just three balls—first Wadhera, then Stoinis.

Soon, PBKS' shoulders dropped as they kept losing wickets in a domino effect.

Celebrations started in the last over. Shashank tried his best but destiny had different plans for Virat Kohli.

Little did he know that the Jersey no 18 that he wears has to wait for 18 years for lifting the IPL trophy.
