New Delhi: India's star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant scripted history on Tuesday during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle by becoming the first Indian cricketer to hit 100 sixes in Test cricket.

Pant reached the landmark with a trademark attacking shot against Sri Lankan pacer Lahiru Kumara. The massive six not only completed a historic milestone but also helped him bring up his 20th Test half-century.

Pant Joins Elite Test Cricket List

With this achievement, Pant became only the fourth batter in the history of Test cricket to cross the 100-sixes mark.

The elite list is currently led by England’s Ben Stokes, who has smashed 138 sixes in Tests. Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum is second with 107 sixes.

Pant entered the exclusive club with 100 sixes, joining former Australia wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist, who also finished his Test career with 100 sixes.

Historic Six In Pant’s Trademark Style

The milestone six came in typical Rishabh Pant fashion. Facing Lahiru Kumara, the left-handed batter moved inside the line of a length delivery and pulled it powerfully over the long-leg boundary.

Sri Lankan fielder Nuwantha attempted to take the catch but could only watch the ball sail over the ropes as Pant completed his record-breaking shot.

Pant’s Aggressive Approach In Test Cricket

Pant has built a reputation for his fearless batting style across formats. His ability to attack bowlers in Test cricket has made him one of India's most exciting match-winners.

His latest achievement highlights his unique approach in the longest format, where aggressive stroke play is usually considered challenging.
