New Delhi: Citing administrative shortcomings, the Sports Ministry suspended the recognition of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) on Wednesday and asked the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to form an ad-hoc committee to manage the sport's operations.

In its order, the Ministry stated that the TTFI was suspended due to the failure to provide a "satisfactory response" to a previously issued show-cause notice and the inability to conduct timely elections.

Sports Ministry entrusts responsibility to IOA

The Ministry's order stated that the IOA, in consultation with the international body (ITTF), would take appropriate steps to establish an internal regulatory mechanism—including the formation of an ad-hoc committee—which would remain in place until a proper governance structure is restored within the TTFI.
