He wrote— "I have decided to donate my match fee from this tournament to support our armed forces and help the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. You are always in my thoughts. Jai Hind."

After winning the Asia Cup 2025 final, the traditional trophy ceremony did not take place. The Indian team refused to accept the trophy from Pakistani-origin ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
