Team India announces ODI squad; KL Rahul takes over captaincy

KL Rahul has been named the captain of Team India for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. The decision came after regular captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer were ruled out due to injuries.

New Delhi: Team India has been announced for the ODI series between India and South Africa. The selection committee met on the second day of the second Test in Guwahati, appointing KL Rahul as captain for the ODI series. This responsibility has been given to him due to the absence of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer.

Reason for Captaincy

Regular captain Shubman Gill was injured in the Kolkata Test, while vice-captain Shreyas Iyer is out due to injury during the Australia tour. Therefore, the selectors decided to hand over the reins of the team to KL Rahul.
