New Delhi: Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back in the Indian T20I setup after a prolonged absence from international cricket. The experienced pacer has earned a recall for the upcoming series against New Zealand, with his selection attracting considerable attention among cricket fans and experts.

Former India batter Wasim Jaffer has backed the decision and believes Bhuvneshwar’s return is a result of his performances rather than any special consideration from the selectors.

At 36, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has earned a recall for India’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand, starting October 22. Wasim Jaffer believes the experienced pacer deserved another opportunity in the national team much sooner.

‘Unko Select Karke Koi Meherbani Nahi Ki’

Speaking about the veteran pacer’s comeback, Jaffer said, “Unko select karke koi meherbani nahi ki.” His comments underline the belief that Bhuvneshwar has earned his place through his performances and consistency.

The experienced bowler has continued to remain active in domestic cricket and the IPL. His ability to swing the new ball, control the powerplay and contribute during crucial stages of an innings has kept him relevant despite his absence from the national side.

Jaffer’s argument is that selection should primarily be based on current form and fitness rather than simply a player’s age.

Experience Remains A Major Asset

Bhuvneshwar’s biggest advantage is his vast international experience. Having played in pressure situations for India over the years, he understands how to adjust his bowling according to conditions and opposition.

India have developed several promising young fast bowlers, but Jaffer believes an experienced campaigner can add balance to the attack. Bhuvneshwar’s presence could also provide valuable guidance to younger members of the pace unit.

A Fresh Opportunity For The Veteran Pacer

The return gives Bhuvneshwar another chance to make his mark at the international level. His performances in the upcoming series will be closely watched, particularly with India continuing to assess its options in the T20 format.

For Jaffer, however, the selection itself sends an important message. If an experienced player remains fit and continues performing, he should not be ruled out simply because of his age.

Bhuvneshwar will now look to justify the faith shown in him and make his return to the Indian side count.
