Indore: The 20th match of the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 was played between India and England, in which India lost by just 4 runs. With this victory, England secured its place in the semi-finals, while India's path to the semi-finals has become even more challenging. However, India is still not eliminated from the tournament and its hopes remain alive.

Australia and England Top the Points Table

After this match, Australia tops the points table. Australia has won four out of five matches, with one match abandoned due to rain, giving them a total of 9 points. England also has 9 points from four wins and one draw, but Australia is in first place due to a better net run rate, while England is in second place. South Africa is in third place, having won four out of five matches and earned 8 points, securing its place in the semi-finals.

India's Semi-final Chances

India, ranked fourth in the points table, has won two and lost three of its five matches. To reach the semi-finals, India must win both of its remaining matches. India's next match is against New Zealand on October 23rd, which would be a crucial victory for India. Following this, India will face Bangladesh on October 26th. If India wins both matches, it can easily secure a place in the semi-finals.

Match Against New Zealand

The match against New Zealand will determine India's semifinal chances. If India defeats New Zealand alone, it will have to overtake Bangladesh based on net run rate. Because if Bangladesh wins its remaining matches, it can finish the group stage with six points. In this situation, the importance of net run rate will increase.

The door Is Still Open For India

New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan can also reach six points in the points table, but India will remain ahead of them based on a win. If India only defeats Bangladesh, they will have to hope that England defeats New Zealand. Thus, India's path to the semi-finals is still open, but it will depend entirely on the results of the final two matches.
