Akhilesh Yadav slams UP govt over SC historic judgement on senior journalist Manoj Tibrewal Aakash petition

Lucknow: Days after the Supreme Court pronounced a landmark judgement on senior journalist Manoj Tibrewal Aakash's plea against the illegal demolition by bulldozer of his ancestral house in Maharajganj in September 2019, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday slammed the Uttar Pradesh government and said it was "very embarrassing" for the government that the Apex Court had imposed a hefty fine on it for the bulldozer action. Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said, "It is very embarrassing for the government. This is the first time in the country that the Supreme Court has imposed a fine of Rs 25 lakh on the Uttar Pradesh government over its bulldozer action." Akhilesh Yadav on SC verdict "This government is very arrogant. It seems the rule of law has ended in Uttar Pradesh. Power and authority are being misused in Uttar Pradesh," Akhilesh Yadav said, citing the Supreme Court's oral judgment in the case. The former UP CM added that the Supreme Court acknowledged in its historic decision that the government's actions were very 'arbitrary'. He said the apex court stated that "you cannot come with a bulldozer and demolish the house overnight." This is 'jungle raj' "You do not give time to the family to vacate the house. What about the household items? Due process should have been followed.
