Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the 31st ASEAN Summit in Manila, Philippines.

Manila: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the 31st ASEAN Summit in Manila, Philippines on today.

Before meeting with Abe, Prime Minister Modi met his Vietnamese counterpart Nguy?n Xuân Phúc here. Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi held a bilateral meeting with his Australian counterpart Malcolm Turnbull.

The Indian prime minister and United States President Donald Trump had held bilateral talks, on Monday here. The two leaders discussed the comprehensive strategic partnership between the United States and India and their shared commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

Prime Minister Modi noted that he looked forward to hosting the United States delegation to the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Summit, showcasing innovation and collaboration between India and the US.

The Indian prime minister arrived in the Philippine capital on Sunday for a three-day visit. He is set to also attend the 12th East Asia meet on today. Earlier on Monday, President Duterte and his wife Honeylet Avancena welcomed the world leaders at the opening ceremony of 31st ASEAN Summit in Manila.

Prime Minister Modi also visited the International Rice Research Institute in Los Banos, Philippines, and inaugurated the Resilient Rice Field Laboratory, named after him. He will also meet the members of the Indian community at a reception to be hosted by the Indian envoy in Philippines. (ANI)
