Dhaka: Bangladesh authorities have ordered the freezing of 17 bank accounts of individuals associated with ISKCON, including jailed Hindi monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, for 30 days.

High Court rejects pleas seeking ban on ISKCON

The authorities action comes after the Bangladesh High Court rejected a plea seeking a ban on International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), following the clash between the Hindu leader's supporters and security personnel in which one lawyer was killed.

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) sent these directives to several banks and financial organisation on Thursday.

Last month, a sedition case was registered against 19 people, including Das, at Chattogram's Kotwali Police Station. He was accused of disrespecting country's national flag in Chattogram's New Market area during a rally. (With Agency Inputs)
