Mathura, Uttar Prdaesh: A bank employee was arrested for attempting to steal cash offerings from the famous Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan. The accused, identified as Abhinav Saxena, was caught on CCTV pocketing ₹9.5 lakh during the routine counting of temple donations.

The theft occurred during the temple's monthly donation counting process, which is conducted under the supervision of court-appointed officials. Temple staff became suspicious when bank employee Abhinav Saxena was seen concealing items in his clothing during the procedure. 

An immediate search recovered ₹1.28 lakh in stolen cash from his possession, after which Saxena confessed to stealing an additional ₹8 lakh over previous counting sessions. 

The Banke Bihari Temple, being one of India's most visited pilgrimage sites, receives substantial daily cash offerings from devotees, making its donation collection particularly vulnerable to such incidents.

Saxena remains in police custody after temple authorities filed a formal complaint. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage to confirm the total stolen amount.

Monthly donation counts are conducted under judicial supervision with bank representatives present. This incident has prompted temple authorities to reassess security measures during cash handling.
