Big Breaking: Three get death penalty in 1981 Dehuli massacre

Maipuri: A special dacoity court in UP's Mainpuri on Tuesday handed over death penalty to three individuals who were convicted for killing 24 Dalits in 1981 in Dihuli village in Firozabad, reports Dynamite News correspondent. 

The massacre, which was reported in Dehuli village, then in Mainpuri district and now in Firozabad, was allegedly carried out to punish Dalit witnesses who had testified against the 'upper-caste' criminals.

Total 17 people were named in FIR. Subsequently, they faced trial. Of 17, 14 died during the course of the trail. 

The massacre occurred on 18 November in 1981 in Dehuli when armed men entred homes, killing 24 people, including seven women and two minors, before looting their belongings. 

The assailants, who were led by gang leaders Radheshyam Singh alias Radhey and Santosh Singh alias Santosha, came in in police uniforms and shot dead 24 Dalits in broad daylight. 

The miscreants carried out the bloodbath for three hours. Total 23 people had died on the spot while one injured died during treatment in Firozabad hospital. 

On 11 March, the judge of the court Indira Singh held the three accused-- Ramsevak, Captain Singh and Rampal-- guilty of mass killings. On Tuesday, the accused appeared before the court which pronounced death panelty for the culprits.
