Bihar Legislative Council Poll: Nitish, Rabri among 11 elected as MLCs unopposed

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was on Thursday declared elected unopposed to the state legislative council for a fourth consecutive term.

Besides Kumar, 10 candidates from different parties, who had stood in the biennial polls to 11 seats of the legislative council, were declared elected unopposed on the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.

Kumar reached the Vidhan Sabha secretariat to collect his certificate, accompanied by close aide Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’, whom he succeeded as JD(U) president, and Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, both from ally of BJP.

Rabri Devi, Abdul Bari Siddiqui and Urmila Thakur received certificates of being elected as MLCs from RJD quota. Along with this, Shashi Yadav of Male also took the certificate. In place of Rabri Devi, Bhola Yadav took the certificate of MLC election.

At the same time, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also reached the Assembly and took the certificate of victory along with Khalid Anwar in the chamber of Assembly Secretary Rajkumar. Minister Santosh Kumar Suman also took the certificate of being elected. From BJP's side, Mangal Pandey, Anamika Singh and Lal Mohan Gupta received certificates of being elected as MLCs.
