Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh police chief Mukul Goel was on Wednesday removed from his post for allegedly neglecting his duties and not taking interest in departmental work. Goel, who assumed the charge as the UP Director-General of Police (DGP) in June 2021, has now been posted as DG, Civil Defence.

According to information received by Dynamite News from reliable sources, five senior officers are in the race for the top police post of UP.

The officers whose names are being talked about for new DGP of UP are Rajendra Pal Singh of 1987 batch; Gopal Lal Meena of 1987 batch; RK Vishwakarma of 1988 batch; Dr. DS Chauhan of 1988 batch and Anand Kumar of 1988 batch.

As per the UPSC rules, the Yogi government will forward names of three senior most officers to the Centre. After the recommendation of one name by the Centre panel, the government will appoint that officer as DGP.
