Chandigarh: Contrary to the claims, the Congress and AAP alliance has suffered a major setback in the Mayoral poll here. BJP candidate Manoj Sonkar unexpectedly won the election.
There was huge uproar after the election results due to cancellation of 6 votes.

The victory of BJP candidate in Municipal Corporation elections in Chandigarh is being considered as a big blow to Aam Aadmi Party and Congress. BJP has been holding the post of Mayor for the last eight years.
The Aam Aadmi Party, which was contesting the elections in alliance with the Congress, had fielded a candidate for the post of Mayor, whereas Congress has fielded its candidates for the posts of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
