Delhi: AAP delegation meets Election Commission over voter ‘deletion’ issue

New Delhi: An Aam Aadmi Party delegation led by party supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday met the Election Commission to raise concerns over alleged mass deletion of voters' names from electoral list.

The Ex-Delhi Chief Minister claimed BJP workers were behind applications to remove thousands of voters in various constituencies.

"We have submitted 3,000 pages of evidence showing how the BJP is conspiring to delete voters' names on a mass scale," Mr Kejriwal alleged. 

'EC gives assurances'    
He further stated the EC provided several assurances, including that no large-scale deletions would done without proper verification.
     

The former chief minister of Delhi also mentioned that in cases of voter deletions, a field inquiry will be conducted by the Booth Level Officer (BLO), accompanied by representatives from various political parties.
     

The AAP leader sadi that if any person sought to delete more than five voters' names, the concerned sub-divisional magistrate will carry out a field inquiry.

The EC also assured us of strict action against those filing questionable deletion requests, he said. (With Agency Inputs)
