Srinagar/ 22 May 2016. Preparations are in full swing for the annul Amaranth Yatra to the Hindu cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir. The 48-day pilgrimage begins on July 2 and will conclude on August 24.
Ongoing arrangements
The ongoing preparations and arrangements for the Yatra include widening and repairing of Yatra roads, the registration of Yatris and their insurance cover, provision of heli-services for the pilgrims, telecom services and medical facilities in the Yatra area.
Security review
While reviewing the Yatra arrangements Governor N N Vohra, who is also the chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), directed the security officials for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
This year 7,500 yatris are permitted per day to undertake the Yatra along each of the two routes, via Baltal in Ganderbal district and Chandanwari in Anantnag district.
Access to control gates
Moreover, the access control gates at Domel and Chandanwari will be closed at 11 am every day. Accordingly, the pilgrims will not be allowed to proceed beyond Panjtarni Camp after 3 pm every day.
