Kochi/ 2 November 2016. At least eight people have been wounded after a gas-laden tanker lorry caught fire on the premises of Hindustan Insecticides Limited (HIL) at Kalamassery in Kochi on Wednesday.
The incident occurred when carbon disulphide was being transferred from the tanker to the plant that it caught fire.
People were injured when the tyres of the tanker burst following the fire.
Fire tenders were rushed to the area to douse the flames.
The injured have been rushed to nearby hospital.
Ernakulam District Collector K Mohammed Y Safirulla said the situation is under control. (With agency inputs)
