President Pranab Mukherjee said “Terrorism is a scourge which knows no borders and must be eradicated through the collective efforts of the civilised world.” He was speaking at the banquet hosted by the Ghana President John Mahama in Accra, capital of Ghana.

 

Terrorism: A global menace 
The President called for collective efforts of the international community to curb terrorism which he termed as global menace. He said India has been its victim for over three decades and expressed solidarity with Ghana in confronting the challenge.

Pranab Mukherjee said that the trade between the two countries has seen rapid growth in recent past. He urged more opportunities for Indian companies to invest in Ghana. 

 

President’s arrival
The President reached Accra on Sunday evening in the first leg of his six day visit to the three African nations-- Ghana, Ivory Coast and Namibia. 

On his arrival here for a two-day visit, the President was received at the airport by Ghana's Vice- President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, senior Ghanaian government officials and Indian High Commission officials.
