Haryana: DSP crushed to death by mafia in Nuh while trying to stop illegal mining

Nuh: In a shocking incident, a 59-year-old deputy superintendent of police (DySP) was mowed down by an overloaded truck while trying to stop illegal mining activities near Pachgaon village in Haryana's Nuh on Tuesday.

The deceased cop has been identified as Surendra Singh  Bishnoi. 

Acting on a tipoff, Bishnoi arrived at Pachgaon under Sadar police station area at around 11.30 am to stop the truck illegally carrying stones.

Bishnoi signalled the truck driver to stop. However, the driver did not stop and instead ran over the cop.

Accoriding to local authorities, Bishnoi died on the spot.

"When the DySP reached the spot, there was an illegal truck. He alighted the car and went near the truck. The truck driver instead of coming out ran over the cop," said Nuh police spokesperson Krishna Kumar.

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij told media persons, "I have given directions for stringent action against the culprits. We will call the police from nearby districts to nab the culprits if needed. No one will be spared." According to sources, Bishnoi was posted as DySP Tauru.

Singh had joined Haryana Police as an assistant sub-inspector in 1994. A native of Sarangpur village in Hisar, he was due to retire from the force in four months.

Senior officers have reached the spot and started investigation into the matter. (with Agecny inputs)
