J&K: Mughal, SSG Roads Closed Due To Accumulation Of Snow

Srinagar: Historical Mughal Road and Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) road remained shut for vehicular traffic for the second consecutive day on Friday due to accumulation of snow. 

Mughal Road connecting south Kashmir’s Shopian district with twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri of Jammu division remained closed for vehicular traffic in view of heavy snow accumulation at Peer Ki Gali.

Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri Road connecting Ladakh Union Territory with Kashmir valley was also closed for vehicular traffic following a fresh snowfall on Zojila pass. About a foot of snow has accumulated at the tourist spot of Sonamarg on Friday.

Beacon Road Organisation (BRO) responsible for the maintenance of the highway have pressed into service men and machinery to clear the snow from the Ladakh highway to make it traffic worthy.

However, the traffic on Srinagar-Jammu national highway was plying as usual, a traffic official said.

“Traffic plying on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Mughal road and SSG Road closed in view of snow accumulation”, a traffic police tweet said.

Gurez-Bandipor, Sadna top and Razdan Top, Keran in Kupwara roads were also closed for vehicular traffic following fresh snowfall in north Kashmir. (with UNI inputs)
