New Delhi: After the Congress' remarkable 135-seat win in the May 10 Karnataka Assembly polls, the focus has now shifted to the all-important question, "Who will be the Chief Minister?"

The meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) was held on Sunday in the presence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) observers. The three observers appointed by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, include former Maharashtra chief minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and party leaders Bhanwar Jitendra Singh and Deepak Babaria.

The race for Chief Minister's post has heated up between old warhorses Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, with both leaders making no secret of their ambition to lead the southern state.

Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala, taking to twitter said that the observers will submit their report to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge by tonight...we'll soon form the government.

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has unanimously authorised AICC President M Mallikarjun Kharge to pick its leader, who will be the next chief minister of the state. (with Agency inputs)
